Newly developed Tropical Storm Prapiroon will impact parts of Japan before setting its sights on the Korean Peninsula early next week.
The tropical storm is expected to strengthen and could reach typhoon status as it approaches the southern Ryukyu Islands on Sunday.
Strong winds and downpours will batter both island chains from late Saturday night into Sunday evening.
Flash flooding is the greatest concern; however, locally damaging winds can result in power outages and downed trees.
More than 26 thousand of Miyazaki prefecture residents were advised to evacuate.
