Heavy gunfire and explosions were heard in Kyiv overnight as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine entered its third day. President Zelenskyy has refused a US offer to evacuate and filmed a video on the streets of the capital saying: «I’m here.»

People in Kyiv are being warned of street fighting and «subversive groups» on the third day of the Russian invasion, with reports of 198 Ukrainians dead nationwide since troops first crossed the border on Thursday.

Those still in the Ukrainian capital are being told to seek or remain in shelters, avoid going near windows or on balconies and take precautions against being hit by debris or bullets.

Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko claimed on Saturday «there are no Russian troops in the capital» but «subversive groups» and «firefights» on the ground are ongoing.

The Ukrainian defence ministry instructed residents to make Molotov cocktails to «neutralise the occupier», while Mr Klitschko warned the «enemy will attack from the air».

At least 198 Ukrainians, including three children, have died across the country so far, the head of the health ministry told the Ukrainian Interfax news agency, with a residential tower block hit by shelling overnight.
